Rolling Road Project From Village News 6/7/17

Excerpt from Village News 6/7/17

Rolling Road ProjectVDOT reports that the consultant has submitted his or her report and that is now being digested by design engineers. Once again, we can expect an update “soon”. The Six Year Transportation Plan continues to show that most of the funding is available, minus any for burying the cables. Here’s that link:  http://syip.virginiadot.org/Pages/allProjects.aspx.

Phase 1 - Their website does reflect a year delay in phase 1 (Improvements to intersection at Rolling Road & Old Keene Mill Road). They had said before that the right turn lane would be added to Phase 1, but it isn’t included in their summary:  Includes interim improvements by adding dual-left turn lanes from Rolling Road to westbound Old Keene Mill Road, upgrading the signal and improving the intersection alignment.  This work is expected to begin in early 2018.

Phase 2 (Widening and other improvements) - Includes widening Rolling Road from two to four lanes between Viola Street and Old Keene Mill Road, signal upgrades, pedestrian and bike facilities and improvements to access management.  This phase is expected to begin construction in spring 2021.
