Village News, 1/25/18

Dear Village Neighbors / Friends,

Short report today, but that should make for easy reading.

Rolling Road Widening Project Public Hearing - There will be a Design Public Hearing for the Rolling Road Widening Project on Tuesday, 27 February from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at Irving Middle School, 8100 Old Keene Mill Road in Springfield.  If there is inclement weather, the meeting will be rescheduled to Monday, 5 March (same time and location).  If you rent a Rolling Road home, please advise the property management team and the home owner about this meeting.

Directory Delivery Volunteers Needed – West side is all but covered, but we need some on the east side of RR to deliver directories to civic association members and newsletters to those not on our email distribution list.

For Sale – Two (2) tickets to see actor/comedian Jay Mohr at the Arlington Cinema Drafthouse, this Saturday at 7:00 PM.  Selling tickets below face value, at $25.00 each.  Call 703/912-7666 or email if interested.

AP Lawn Mower Repair, on US Route 1, phone is 703/799-8880. Bernie Koehle (Edmonton Court) recommends this business and says that now is the time to tune up mowers and change its oil. AP charges $45.00 to change oil, spark plug and sharpen mower blade. Bernie says that other places charge $80 - to $100 for the same service. They also repair and service riding mowers. Thanks for the heads up Bernie.

New Neighbors – Please let me know if you get new neighbors. If they arrived the village after 1 November 2017, they get the rest of this membership year free with full voting rights. We just have to log them into the database by name(s), address, phone and email.

Home for Sale - Rick and Angie Walker will be moving in the late spring and plan to sell their 4bd/2.5ba, 2,430 sq ft home on 6905 Brisbane St.  It’s the popular Queen model with recently remodeled kitchen and bathrooms, finished basement, fireplace, and beautiful landscape with in-ground fountain.  If you know of anyone interested in moving to our wonderful West Springfield Village neighborhood, have them contact or 228-265-3093.  Their dates are fairly flexible and would even consider selling earlier if there was an option to rent for a few months.  Photos and info from the previous listing are still available online:

Crime Prevention - FCPD is again advising us to not leave cars unlocked nor leave items of value in plain sight in parked cars. They also added (for my wife's sake) to lock vehicles even if parked in a garage.

Take care and stay dry this weekend.

John Cooley
