Village News, 1/4/18

Dear Village Neighbors / Friends,

Happy New Year Folks! I do believe that winter is now upon us. Stay warm.

Trash - Recycle trash to be picked up this Saturday, 6 January and then we get back to regular schedule. If you are missed, call Republic at 703/818-8222. If we have a community-wide issue, that’s my job, but we have separate accounts. If you were missed, get after them.

Separate Yard debris collection on Wednesdays has ended until March 2018, but they will pick up 8 foot or less Christmas trees again next Wednesday. Remove decorations and tinsel first.

Theft from Cars and Car Theft – West Springfield Police Department report that about 20 thefts from car have occurred in our district and one car actually stolen. The FCPD want to remind us to lock unattended cars and to not store valuables in sight within a parked car.

Snow ShovellersAriana, Niko, and Leon Porter are available to shovel snow this winter. You can contact their mother Elaine Porter at

If you have children willing to shovel for money or community service credit, please let me know and we’ll advertise for them,

Cinderella's Slipper - actually it's a relatively new girl's toddler blue Nike and it's on the rocking chair on the front porch at 6702 Ontario. It was found during Christmas Party cleanup.

West Springfield Elementary School PTA Fundraiser - Join the Mighty Mustangs at our next Dine Out night on January 17 at Chipotle (8066 Rolling Road #9) from 5pm to 9pm. If you show the attached flier to the cashier, then Chipotle will donate 50% of proceeds to WSES PTA.

Another Suggestion for a New Year’s Resolution – Let’s all do more to improve the image of our village. I know my home is often not up to snuff, but we do try.

I, and hopefully all of you also are thankful for the Kriebel family who maintains the area around our village sign on Rolling Road.
