Village News, 4/5/18

Dear Village Neighbors / Friends,

As mentioned in last week’s enews, this one is only posted on our website. I would appreciate knowing who actually went to the website to read the enews to determine if this procedure is a viable option when away from the village. Starting next week, we will return to stuffing your email inbox.

Check out the website and offer Webmaster Bob Havey suggestions for improving the site. You can find it this report and all others at

Dog Tranquility, LLC – Given my need to visit a brother, my wife and I were left (again) with the dilemma about what to do with our dog. She (the dog) can’t be expected to wait in the house for my wife to get home so – we were in the market for a dog walker for a rather difficult Yemeni Street Dog. My wife found this husband and wife company that is Veteran Owned and Operated who does dog walking, pet sitting, dog training in both groups and also privately. They managed our dog which isn’t an easy task and may also be the answer for you to keep you dog or pet in the setting they know (your home). They are Ian and Colleen Dermott and can be reached at 703/786-3201 or You can also find more information at their website –

West Springfield Elementary School Fundraiser – From our Delegate and WSES PTA President Kathy Tran - West Springfield Elementary School is raising $10,000 to support a STEAM Lab. WSES has implemented an interdisciplinary approach to teaching science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics, and our STEAM Lab is an important component of our curriculum.

In its inaugural year, this community-sponsored STEAM Lab has received very positive responses from our students. A generous, anonymous donor has offered a 1:1 match up to $10,000 so that we would be able to raise a total of $20,000.

By 20 April, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the WSES PTA to support our STEAM Lab. You can donate through our website or via check made payable to WSES PTA. In advance, thank you!

It is very wet here on Whidbey Island, WA. Please remain vigilant with our kids at play.
